Our Purpose
Tyra Moana’s purpose is to foster connection. We feel a deep connection to the ocean and appeal to people who feel the same way. Whether the beach holds moments of perspective and comfort, or joy and spontaneity, we hope that our clothing designs make this feeling more tangible. This way no matter where you are, you can feel grounded in your connection to nature.
Each Tyra Moana piece is consciously designed to boost confidence and make the wearer feel peaceful, playful, and comfortable. We want our community to feel this positivity as much as possible with the aim that together we can do good.
Sustainability
With such a strong connection to the ocean, naturally, we care about the environment and the impact fashion has on this.

We produce small and slow collections to minimize waste and encourage more thoughtful shopping.

Our clothes are made by real people, so we ask for certifications and assurances that the workrooms/factories are up to standard.

Where we can, we use natural fiber fabric to keep our materials as eco-friendly as possible which adds to the premium quality of the clothing.

We appreciate the value each step of the supply chain adds, see the craftsmanship of details, and each design is very intentional from sketch, to pattern, to make.

We know that this is a work in progress but are determined to make a positive difference. By starting off on the right foot, we take with us a sustainability mindset when we approach future collections and work.
Meet the designer
Thank you for visiting Tyra Moana! My name is Tyra and I'm the founder and designer behind this beachwear brand.
​
I've always been passionate about fashion and design which is what led me to study a Bachelor of Fashion Design. Upon graduating I then spent years in the industry working for other New Zealand designers.
​
Outside of the design world, the ocean has always held a special place for me. A place for fun out in the surf and also a place where I can feel peaceful and reflective. It seemed a perfect match for me to combine my favourite activities into a brand dedicated to crafting unique, beachy pieces that keep sustainability in mind. Tyra Moana is made to provide a 'slow-fashion' 'choice beach days.
Each garment has been carefully designed, consciously sourced, trialed, and patterned by yours truly. I hope they see you through many endless summers!
